Tafresh University
In March of 1985, at the suggestion of Professor Mahmoud Hasabi, the first step was taken towards the establishment of a university in Tafresh city with the aim of training experts and researchers and providing the human resources needed by the follow-up of the policy makers and the approval of the National University Development Council. Then Amirkabir University of Technology was in charge of implementing the plan and setting up of this university. In 1988, Tafresh University, as a unit of Amirkabir University of Technology, began its scientific activity by accepting 53 students in the field of applied mathematics, and in 2005, with the approval of the National Higher Education Development Council, it was promoted to an independent university.
The city of Tafresh with an aerial distance of 160 kilometers to Tehran is placed between the cities of Qom, Arak and Saveh, with an average height of 1900 meters above the sea level, latitude 34 degrees and 41 minutes north and longitude 50 degrees and 1 minutes east, with an annual rainfall of 270 mm.
